HYDRO RESIST
A waterproofing material for reinforcement of sand levees, soil and construction earthworks
Waterproofing flood protection sandbags
Flood protection sandbags are usually filled with sand. These bags soak through during the flood after a certain period so the emergency levee needs constant rebuilding and reinforcement. Also, the subsequent treatment of used sandbags raises concerns because the sand gets contaminated during the flood and is considered hazardous waste, therefore its disposal needs to be taken care of after remediation.
Sand mixed with HYDRO RESIST (added in a 3-5% ratio) becomes waterproof and does not soak through, resulting in stronger and more reliable sandbag levees.
If this method is used, the sand does not get contaminated, and sandbags only require outer cleaning (e.g. by a pressure steam washer) once the flood has receded; the sand remains clean and is reusable after it has dried.
